In this book, the leadership concept SERVE is presented to a broader audience. It is a new and holistic model of leadership that encompasses all the essential dimensions of leadership, including:

  • Spiritual leadership – leading people to life-transforming discipleship in communion with the Holy Spirit.
  • Effective leadership – empowering people to accomplish tasks with excellence.
  • Visionary leadership – inspiring people to share a compelling vision and make a strategic difference.
  • Relational leadership – serving to build empowered individuals, loving communities, and committed teams.
  • Evangelistic leadership – equipping the church to facilitate encounters with the whole gospel.

The model is grounded in the biblical story, robust theology, and key insights from cutting-edge research on leadership.

Similarly, the book integrates theory and practice while also bridging a third cohesive field—namely, the perspectives of the Global North and South. This book serves as an example of how these regions can come together in thought and writing to see more, understand better, and reach further.

The goal is to promote growth and development in leadership across all areas, particularly in churches. The hope is that, as a reader, you will become more equipped and confident as a leader.

—————

"The SERVE Model for leadership development is a new and fresh addition to the wealth of leadership training materials for the church in Africa and beyond. In my well-considered view, the SERVE Model is biblically, practically, theologically, and contextually sound. I highly recommend it to colleges and churches to use in their teaching and training.”

—Bishop Dr. ISAIAH MAJOK DAU, Former General Overseer, Sudan Pentecostal Church
